As An Editor

I've edited numerous print and web publications, ranging from newsletters and press releases to commemorative publications and magazines.

I've edited the special Playbills for both of Lincoln Center's critically-acclaimed White Light Festivals. Read the the final, pre-press (without the ads) pdf of the 2011 festival Playbill here. View the 2010 edition here, and keep an eye out for my interview with Meredith Monk, which starts on page 12, as well as my chats with Kjartan Sveinsson (of Sigur Ros) and Alex Somers (of Jónsi and Alex), which appear on pages 46 & 47. I also edited Lincoln Center's commemorative Playbill celebrating the newly revamped Alice Tully Hall.

A few years ago I edited four issues of RE:D, the alumni magazine for Parsons The New School for Design. Click here to view my favorite, which featured the school's Illustration Department.

Perhaps most notably, I am the former Editor-In-Chief of Chamber Music magazine, for which I oversaw everything from concept to print (I also served as Associate Editor before my promotion). Feel free to view two of my favorite editorials, and my travel/entertainment articles on Switzerland's Verbier Festival & Academy, Finland's Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, and Canada's Banff International String Quartet Competition.

On The Web

I've brainstormed and worked with numerous clients on web projects, creating content for sites like Control Group, a documentary film in production. I am the author of KKNY, a blog about my experiences exploring and cooking in New York City, and create both written and video pieces (like the ones below) for the The Actors Fund, the acclaimed non-profit that helps people in need throughout the entertainment industry.

A Few Selected Articles

I've written a few previews for Time Out New York, but my favorite was the one that gave me the chance to interview Monty Python hero Eric Idle in advance of a new work he'd written with musical partner John DuPrez. (Click here to view the story on Time Out New York's website.)

Among countless articles for Playbill, a highlight was my interview with acclaimed architect Liz Diller of Diller, Scofidio + Renfro (responsible for The High Line and the Lincoln Center revamp), for an article on Lincoln Center's rehabilitated front entrance. (Click here to view on Playbill's website .) I also wrote pieces celebrating Carnegie Hall's Meredith Monk Marathon and the 30th Anniversary of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, and have done numerous season previews for the magazine, including this one on The New York Philharmonic's first season with its new Music Director Alan Gilbert.

My work has appeared in numerous other publications, including the 50th Anniversary Grammy Awards commemorative book, Reach, B&H's Student Buyer's Guide, NewMusicBox, and Women We Have Met.

One-on-One Work

I enjoy working one-on-one with clients to develop marketing strategies and create content. For example, I've worked on numerous projects for the artist Gayil Nalls, brainstorming strategies, writing and editing press releases, producing web copy, shooting photo documentation, and more.

I also filmed and edited a short video on the production of inkblot_2, an aromatic edible sculpture. Learn more about the artist and the project at the olfactory inkblot website, for which I often help write content.

Marketing Strategies & Press Releases

I've been creating press releases and marketing content throughout my career, working in various styles for numerous clients including Lincoln Center, The New York Philharmonic, Kirshbaum Demler Associates, and others (one of my earliest jobs in New York was as the Marketing Director for The Kitchen, for which I successfully revamped its entire marketing strategy). Most recently, I drafted the main release and all supplements for The New York Philharmonic 2011–12 season (an annual gig), and created the season announcement for the 92nd Street Y (via KDA). My design went out via a colorful html e-mail, but you can view a slightly-altered pdf version they created here. Visit my Mediabistro site for a few more selected samples.

I've also started creating video interviews for The Actors Fund, featuring some of the people the organization has helped through its programs and services. Here's the first:

Notes

I've written program and album liner notes for numerous artists, including Imani Winds, Anne Akiko Myers, and most recently for Brazilian pianist/conductor João Carlos Martins' Orquestra Bachianas September 2010 appearance at Avery Fisher Hall.

Recipe Writing & Editing

In addition to regularly creating content for my KKNY blog (including this special holiday pdf), I worked side-by-side with pianist Evelyne Brancart to write and edit the recipes and descriptions for her upcoming CD/cookbook, Chez Chopin. I also used her photos to design the mock-up sent to prospective publishers.
